We understand what it takes to grow and maintain a great lawn. With so many options to choose from these days, it can be difficult to decide on the best solution for your garden. Despite which product you choose, careful preparation, installation and care are critical to achieving a healthy lawn.
LEARN MOREThe term ‘ready lawn’ has come to mean many things over the years, but in essence, it is an effective solution for supplying a semi-established lawn to a new garden or outdoor area.
Ready lawn, or turf as it is also known, is grown offsite and harvested once the grass reaches a certain level of maturity. Sold in sods or rolls, turf arrives at the consumer, ready to be rolled out onto a carefully prepared base.
Roll out lawn requires a period of time to establish itself in its new environment. At the time of harvest, the lawn's root system is disturbed. Once freshly laid, it will begin the work of establishing a new root system. During this time, careful and monitored watering is essential, and mowing is to be avoided until your grass blades are at least 30mm in length.
Your location, the soil composition of your garden, and the climate will determine the type of grass you choose to grow on your lawn.

Like any good gardening project, a detailed preparation process is crucial. Laying a new lawn is no exception.
A well-prepared base layer will ensure that your roll-out lawn will 'take' well and begin establishing itself not long after it is laid. Ready lawn products dry out quickly. Your site must be prepared ahead of time so that you may lay the turf as soon as it arrives at the site.

Sods of ready lawn, once harvested, will dry out quickly, particularly during the warmer months. We recommend storing sods in a shaded area under a moist soil cloth until they are required.

Ready lawn can be laid year-round, but Autumn and Spring provide the optimum conditions.
During the autumn and spring months, the soil is moist without being too wet, and in general, conditions are more favourable for harvesting, transporting, laying and handling the sods.
You risk frost conditions during the winter months, while the summer months can often be too dry. In both instances, you and your grass will be battling the elements.
Woolgro is one of New Zealand's premium lawn products. To be honest, we encourage all of our clients to go with this choice!
Woolgro lawn mats are an all-natural and eco-friendly product made from sheep's wool. The mats are nutrient-rich, biodegradable and ingrained with some of N.Z's best grass seeds.
Woolgro can be laid during winter as the seeds are protected from the colder temperatures by the wool, and the high moisture retention means your lawn requires less irrigation.
Woolgro is an eco-friendly alternative to many other lawn growing options on the market today.
