Allen Rd, Grey Lynn: From Sloping Section to Entertaining Delight

Outdoor living is an inherent part of life in New Zealand. We love our outdoor spaces. We can't live without them; our love for them inspires creative landscaping solutions. We’re a team of Auckland Landscapers passionate about delivering innovative gardens and working to the highest standards.

See WHAT WE DID

The Brief

To utilise the sloping corner section of the property by creating an entertainment area and linking the newly developed space with access from the back lawn to the front door.

The team at Folium Landscaping were on board straight away with my vision for this property.  Their attention to detail, great communication and ability to manage the site challenges really made this project a success.

The Process:

Working from an extensive landscape design plan, we removed all hard-fill from the site, excavating by hand; excavation included removing all existing garden beds, a concrete pathway and block wall footing.

We installed new reinforced concrete footings, block walls, planter boxes, a concrete pathway, new steppers and step-ups, and new aluminium framing for screen fencing. We built and painted a new deck, installed uplights, plaster walls, and espalier wire.

We laid blocks and tiles and extended existing tile steps. We relocated screen fencing and uplighting and prepared, planted and mulched nine new garden beds.

The Result:

Our clients now have a private and useable space from what was a steep, messy and underutilised corner section of their property. The area is easily accessible from the front door and is a great spot for our clients to relax or entertain. Clean and tidy staggered levels house planter boxes full of vegetables, while sculptures and decorative screens act as connective tools which bring the entire project together.
