Tips and Tricks: November 2023

November 22, 2023

November’s Tips:

  • Now that spring’s growth is hardening off, it’s time to prune and feed your hedges.
  • Treat pruned hedges with insecticide/fungicide. We recommend plant soap as an excellent natural alternative to the harsh chemical options. Remember to re-apply after heavy rain.
  • Avoid trimming your hedges on high-humidity or wet days, as this will leave them vulnerable to disease.
  • It’s also time to reinstate or initiate your pest and disease prevention programme. Dewy mornings combined with warmer days are the perfect environment for bugs to infest your garden and disease to set in.
  • You can use plant soap throughout your garden, including edibles like herbs and vegetables. It’s a fantastic way to keep the bugs away while minimising the toxins around your home.
  • This climate is also the perfect environment for your lawn to develop disease. Check for circular patches dying off or reddish-pink tips on the lawn’s leaf. Diseased lawns can be tricky to treat. Contact us to discuss your best course of action.
