Garden Irrigation
Installing irrigation in your home garden provides a hassle-free solution for ensuring your new lawns and plants receive the right amount of water.
Regular and measured watering with irrigation will protect plant and grass growth from the detrimental effects of heat and sun damage.
Chances are, you've invested a lot of time and money into your garden. Choosing to install an effective irrigation system will see that you get a return on your investment for years to come.
Water Your Garden With Ease:
Irrigation allows for the even and targeted distribution of water throughout your garden - perfect when trying to conserve water or if you’re worried about over-watering. What’s more, an irrigation system affords you the freedom to get on with your life without being tied to your garden’s watering schedule.
The predominantly clay-based soil conditions found in most North Shore gardens are both a blessing and a curse. Clay-dominant soils ask that we consider our irrigation options carefully. Talk to us about what we recommend.

Every Garden is Different:
What is the best garden irrigation system?
Every garden is unique. Soil conditions, plants choices, drainage and size, are among many of the factors you must consider when choosing the right watering system for your garden.
We work with some of Auckland's most respected irrigation specialists. Expert advice, guaranteed!
How much does irrigation cost to install?
The price of installing irrigation in your garden depends on several factors:
- The size of your garden
- The type of irrigation you install
- How many fittings and materials are used
- Whether your garden is new or existing
Garden Irrigation:

For your garden, we recommend installing a drip-line irrigation system. Drip-line irrigation will ensure water delivery directly to your plants' roots and significantly reduces the risk of water wastage. Additionally, with installation bedded just below the soil's surface or mulch, it won't interfere with your garden's aesthetics.
Where possible, we encourage our clients to employ sustainable gardening habits across their gardens' care and maintenance. Drip-line irrigation provides a perfect solution.
Targeted Micro-Irrigation:
Drip-line is an example of targeted micro-irrigation. Through an intricate tubing system, pipes, emitters and valves, water is delivered directly to the plant's root in a measured trickle. Using this method, you water your garden for more extended periods (a long slow soak) but less frequently.
We recommend that all irrigation systems are set up on a timer and run once or twice a week.

The Benefits of Drip-line Irrigation:

Drip irrigation is bedded just beneath the surface of your garden bed, which is excellent for plant health. The direct delivery of water to the roots increases water efficiency, minimises evaporation and protects your plants from the dangers of being scorched by the sun.
Long-lasting and Easy Repair:
The drip-line system is both long-lasting and easy to repair. You can also instal drip tape as an alternative. However, drip tape's design does not support longevity.
This type of irrigation is ideal for gardens that endure windy conditions – a common element found in our North Shore gardens. It is also great for minimising weed growth. Weeds grow close to the soil's surface, therefore, missing the water delivery of drip irrigation.
The benefits in a nutshell:
- Water-efficiency
- Avoid over-watering
- Garden aesthetic maintained
- Plant health
- Easy repair
- Long-lasting
- Limits weed growth
- Automated systems
Lawn Sprinkler Systems:

For your lawns, we recommend a pop-up sprinkler system. Pop-up sprinklers take the guesswork out of lawn care as watering is timed and measured, delivering the exact amount of water according to need.
We recommend a professional consultation about what type of irrigation will work best for your property.
Hunter and Rain Bird Irrigation:

Both the Hunter and Rain Bird systems bring with them a robust reputation as leading international brands. With revolutionary approaches to sprinkler engineering and advanced sensor and timer functions, their systems come with a vast range of accessories, tools, and options for adequate irrigation.
We always recommend a professional consultation before you take the plunge and install an automated irrigation system. These systems' advanced nature requires a planned approach and professional installation to ensure optimum performance and longevity.

Accessories and Controller Options:

Moisture Sensors:
Moisture sensors detect the level of water in the soil and therefore control the watering schedule accordingly.
Rain and Temperature Sensors:
This sensor will pause your irrigation schedule when it rains, ensuring your garden will never be over-watered. Equally, the sprinkler will cease to operate when the temperature falls below your predetermined temperature setting.
Wifi and Smart Timers:
Customise your garden's watering schedule via remote access. Receive important notifications like short circuit warnings or disruption to the water supply. Create different irrigation programs for each section of your garden or manage more than one garden at a time!
Sprinklers You Can Trust!
The impressive functionality of these sprinklers and accessories takes irrigation automation to the next level.
The Benefits of an Automated Sprinkler System:
Automated irrigation systems will help you to maintain a healthy garden; it is the most convenient and efficient way to ensure that your plants and lawn receive the water they require to thrive.
Automated irrigation systems ensure that you will always water your garden at the optimum time – no bleary-eyed early mornings or racing home from a weekend away to relieve your thirsty garden.
Benefits in a nutshell:
- Conserve water
- Avoid over-watering
- Save time
- Save money
- Flexibility
Garden Irrigation Tip:
- Book an annual service for your irrigation system in October or November; this will ensure everything is in working order for the summer ahead.
Become a Water Wise Gardner:
- Apply mulch to your garden
- Connect a collection tank to your downpipes
- Educate yourself about watering best practice
- Use a granular wetting agent on your lawn and garden beds
- Understand how much water your plants need
